3-Generation Trip: Managing Money Without Burdening Parents

How to spend time comfortably?

1. "Invitation" or "Joint Trip"?

Clarify if this is "You inviting parents" or "Going together".

If inviting, tell them "Put your wallet away". If joint, consider their pension situation and ask for a reasonable contribution.

2. Split by Item

Exact splitting feels too formal involving family.

• Accommodation: Parents pay.
• Transport/Meals: You pay.
• Souvenirs for Grandkids: Grandparents pay.

Assigning roles lets everyone feel they contributed.

3. Make a "Trip Wallet"

Even if parents pay more, having them open their wallet at every register isn't smart.

Collect a lump sum from parents and yourselves into a "Trip Wallet".
One representative pays from there. Refund leftovers later.
